Teen post-psych prodigies Zach McLuckie and Rex McMurry, the original Pows, reunite in a rule-crushing eight-track home recording project. Adam Roberts joined the band for their one live show (the release show for their sole album 'Cadillac Soldier' at Mojo's, Columbia MO March 5 2005) and appears in the album artwork, but does not play on the album. Zach submitted the CD as his admissions portfolio to the Chicago Institute of the Arts, and was accepted. This is a Cat Jams Label release. Zach... The followup to their eponymous debut, Neoon Winteeer sees the Pows breaking all sorts of self-created rules upon turning 16 -- adding bassist Ryan Haas and recording songs longer than a hundred seconds (sometimes even featuring bridges!), for example. Also new on this disc is a near-complete abandonment of the garage-rock idiom in exchange for a wicked psychedelic thrash; songs were recorded either at home on four-track cassette or onto reel-to-reel tape at the home studio of new-age... From the darkest corners of the Minneapolis art-rock scene come Lighted--a psychedelic-drone band with enough dirty grooves, spacey synths and pounding drums for even the most cultured experimental music fans. All of these tracks are fresh; culled from recent studio jamming, these four songs will work their way on to an album (or tape) later this year. Recorded and produced July 12th, 2010 by Radio K's head student engineer Joe Hinz in Studio K. Nowlikephotographs is specialty programming... When the Pittsburgh bad-trip psychedelic band SHAKY SHRINES was first formed, it's two founding members (Faisant, Hanson), recorded their demo immediately. However, they had no money or any real idea of where the songs would take them - they had only a 2008 mac laptop. All of the guitar was played clean through a 15-watt Fender practice amp. The internal microphone on the computer was the only mic used throughout the entire recording process. The fuzzy blown-out guitar tone was achieved by...
